So I've *finally* negotiated my 3 month trial contract, and it's better than a kick in the teeth :) There used to be more here, but common sense has won out.

No, but the boss prefers to bill companies... so I might as well get one registered.

If you have my number at home give me a call nine-ish tonight, I'll go over company stuff with you. I do mostly company/corporate law here.

I don't have your home number. but my e-mail address is listed in my LJ userinfo if you want to e-mail it to me.

any help would be much appreciated!

I actually have a word file at home, with all the quick info for doing these things, including phone numbers. I'll send it your way tonight.

Name it 'Olmsted'. This isn't a game, nor is it a marketing campaign. Get the paperwork done quick and get the money coming in ASAP.

Worry about a name if/when you decide to incorporate.

Shitty.

Given how long it's taken these guys to get to the contract stage, I wouldn't waste time right now. Rent is due on the 1st. :-)

Rent comes before the $60 fee to get the name registered... and I have NO spare cash right now.

you *do not* need to register. You can run a sole proprietor style company without registering with the government. You do not need either a BN or a GST # for this. It's a waste of $60. Trust me on this one, I did the same myself, for similar reasons a few years ago.
"You need to register a business name with the Province of Ontario if you are not operating under your legal name. There is a $60 registration fee which you can pay on-line using your credit card." - from Canada Revenue Agency (https://www.businessregistration-inscriptionentreprise.gc.ca/dchmf/brom/bro/about-e.html)

I need to get a GST number as I have to charge my employer GST for work rendered... do you have to pay to get a GST number?
