batphantom had to pass on going last night due to feeling like ass, so I went solo. Luckily I met trinity1010101 and her friend once I got there, so all was good.
The opening band (who I will refer to as "NotTheStrokes(Not That You Could Tell At A Casual Listen)") I managed to miss most of. NTS(NTYCTAACL) *really* wanted to come off as the current "cool" rock-light. Sort of emo, sort of whatever... They didn't really catch my attention.
Then, after an extended period of what I can only assume was drinking on the bands part, Electric Six hit the stage! But wait! What's this?! They are Electric FIVE tonight! The keyboardist wasn't there "because he has a hole in in pancreas. But that's okay. Because they are going to fill it with putty. Pancreas putty." So they go on, and rock hard. Dick Valentine has quite the stage presence and voice, even when hammered.
Eventually they hit a break, and Dick says "We're Electric Five tonight. Our keyboardist got Lyme disease. A deer walked into his office and bit him on the forehead. So tonight, we are going to play "Synthesizer" without a Synthesizer. We'd like to dedicate this song to Synthesizer." and they proceed to rock Synthesizer hard. I have to say, it was an awesome rendition of my favorite song.
They played pretty much the whole first album, and 90% of the second album. My only beef is that they didn't play "Jimmy Carter"
I *highly* reccommend seeing Electric Six if they are playing in your neck of the woods anytime soon.
